Pakistan Shaheens defeated Northern Territory Strike (NT Strike) by 84 runs in their last unofficial one-day at the DX Arena on Wednesday.
Faisal Akram, who bagged five wickets for 17 runs in Shaheens’ first match against Papua New Guinea (PNG), took another five-wicket haul today to help his team win their last match of Australia’s tour.
Set to 233 runs, NT Strike lost their openers for just seven runs.
After losing openers, Jason Sangha and Cody Edmonstone formed a crucial 79-run partnership for the third wicket.
Param Uppal for his side was another contributor with 24 off 27 balls.
Most of the NT Strike’s batters could not stay at the wicket for long and had to return to the pavilion because of Shaheens’ outstanding display with the ball.
They were all out for just 148 runs in 39.3 overs.
Earlier in the first innings, Shaheens posted 232 on the scoreboard in 47.3 overs.
Ali Asfand (42*), Ahmed Khan (39), Azan Awais (36) and Basit Ali (33) were the top contributors for the winning side with the bat.
It must be noted here that this was Shaheens’ first win over NT Strike after they failed to beat them on two occasions during the recently concluded Top End T20 Series.
